Welcome to This Moment!

“True being comes out from nothingness, moment after moment. Nothingness is always there, and from it everything appears. This is the true joy of life.

Shunryu Suzuki Roshi

To introduce myself as the writer of InSight, my name is Fatma, but people call me Tuma. I was born in Kenya and raised in North America all my life. To me, writing is not just a means of communication, but an art with a vision. I have been a writer since I was a little girl, and it has always been more than just a passion or hobby for me. Therefore, with this gift, I made InSight the place where the words that naturally come through me can finally have their light and opportunity to shine.

Since experiencing a Kundalini Awakening in 2017, or what I call an “epiphany dream” which connected me to my higher self, the process of enlightenment has been an interesting journey. I consider myself an empath and a bodhisattva. However, that does not mean I think of myself more enlightened than others. This implication only creates walls and limitations. It only creates barriers that divide and compare, which is very common in this world, and which I want to move past. Enlightenment is a VERY long path. Matter of fact, it’s a never-ending path. If one says they are fully enlightened, they are probably wrong. Nevertheless, we can at least be awakened to walk the enlightenment path, because we are always learning, changing, and evolving to create the beautiful world we envision in our thoughts.

We are all born with a higher self. But sometimes the limitations placed by social conditioning as well as by the structured ego, in other words, being American, Korean, a businessman, a model, a father with a family and children, a this or a that—together with the responsibilities and obligations that come with those titles, can make tapping into our higher self somewhat challenging. Not to say that these titles are bad, however, they can be somewhat limiting. And depending on the society we were brought up in, social conditions can even limit our potential to love ourselves wholeheartedly, to be loved by others, and to have unconditional love for others regardless of differences. Many people also fear following specific dreams or going to certain places due to societal or family expectations, and because of uncertainty due to violence, lack of access to resources, and or poverty. Or simply because: There’s not enough time. These thoughts only diminish our potential as a human being. Humans are shielded by limited beliefs and self-loathing thoughts, which are not who we are. Many people also fear death for they fear the unknown. The unknown seems like a scary place to go when in actuality, it can be very liberating.

“You reading this,

are already awake… You are already bold and beautiful like the sun and the sky and the flower.”

At the same time, and not that it’s anybody’s fault (it’s just what we’re accustomed to by being raised into negative patterns) life can be rather self-serving. And this can cause a lot of pain due to attachment when things don’t go our desired way. I admit, I fall into that trap sometimes by asking, “what’s in it for me?” or “why does this have to happen to me?” But remembering that I am connected to every plant, to every insect, to every living and nonliving thing— is very powerful in reducing the pain that comes when I deal with difficult situations. The moment will pass. We do not pass through time. We pass through moments. And these moments can be hard, easy, tiresome, difficult, fun, boring, embarrassing, and even heartbreaking. This list of moments goes on and on. And we must go on. The key is seeing the joy within them all.

Though we give everything names and titles to separate one thing from another, in reality, everything is non-dual. From the tip of your fingers to the top of your head and bottom of your toes, are you separate from the environment around you? No. We are all one.

So what is it? this higher self? Your higher self is your most authentic self. The one that generates the power of love, compassion, and insight. it is the god and goddess within you. It cannot be touched or seen, but it can be heard and felt within you. It goes beyond the material world, from 3D consciousness, and into the 5D consciousness. For instance, writing is a part of my physical self that helps tap into my higher self. I hear the voice, and I let it sing.

The concept of oneness and seeing that we are all the same internally breeds more gratitude and appreciation for life in the present moment. It helps to reach our fullest potential. Therefore as a shared space, if you are reading this, this blog created is your blog as well. Male, female, child, teenager, adult, you are already a god and a goddess. You reading this, are already awake. You reading this can make your fantasy world filled with magic come true. You are already bold and beautiful like the sun and the sky and the flower. All these natural elements—the sun, the sky, the flower—they exist to be connected, and they don’t boast or complain, or go through conflicts, wondering if they are better than the other. That’s why nature can be so relaxing and purifying. Unconditionally, they exist connected to work together with a purpose to shine in both lightness and darkness.

As human beings, we are meant to grow and peel away the structured conditions of the society we are shackled by. No matter how many lives it takes, this is the one that matters most. Understanding our past, we must eventually have to wash all the dirt away to be born again in unconditional love; resonating in our truth without faintheartedness or the pressure of what the world or those who “love” us think about it.

Like the birth of a newborn child, there are no conditions or expectations from him or her. They are naturally loved, unconditionally. I have never given birth, but from what I have witnessed, the birth of a newborn child is a painful process but a beautiful one at the same time. And from moment to moment, life continues to be a painful but beautiful process as well. From birth to eventual death, from dependence to independence, from light to dark—back and forth, back and forth through time and space, again and again…We are all newborn children. Regardless of age, we were born in innocence into knowledge and born to smile and exceed expectations. Thus, becoming limitless.

Life is a field of discourse meant for experimentation. Whatever life works for you, works for you. However, if it is causing a feeling of sadness, fear, anger, jealousy, and even exhaustion and anxiety, doesn’t it signal a need for something to change? We sometimes envision in our thoughts, living in a paradise where everything is the way we want it to be. Yet are you willing to take the challenge? Because if we do not see progress right away, it becomes unverifiable, unattainable or just a fantasy in our mind. We get tired, we get lazy, and we lose hope, causing all these strings of negative emotions. But even doing nothing teaches you a lesson. Every action will lead you to the next moment. No one needs to verify anything but your own heart and spirit; your intuition. Therefore, no matter how much of a rollercoaster ride it may seem, or how daunting it may be, trust the process of life. But don’t just take my word for it. You know the truth, by how it feels deep inside.
